Lydia Bradey is a New Zealand mountaineer, IFMGA International Mountain and Ski Guide, physiotherapist, author and inspirational speaker. In 1988, she became the first woman to climb Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen. She has since climbed Everest six times and completed ten ascents of mountains above 8,000 metres, alongside more than 35 expeditions above 6,000 metres.
Through her guiding services, Bradey leads clients on high-altitude, remote and extreme-environment climbs and ski tours. Her experience includes guiding Everest five times, as well as expeditions to peaks in Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Chile, Peru, Argentina and Antarctica. She focuses on helping clients prepare for the physical and mental demands of altitude and challenging terrain.
Bradey also gives professional talks on resilience, motivation, overcoming fear and achieving ambitious goals, drawing on her mountaineering experiences with humour and practical insight. Her 2015 book, Lydia Bradey: Going Up Is Easy, recounts her Everest ascent and climbing adventures; it was later translated into French.
