Lyman Allyn

Lyman Allyn Art Museum is an art and cultural institution in New London, Connecticut, celebrating the power of art since 1932. Its collection is particularly strong in American paintings and decorative arts, with exhibitions that explore subjects from colonial America through the 20th century, often highlighting Connecticut and New London County. Permanent displays include American Perspectives and Louis Comfort Tiffany in New London, alongside changing exhibitions such as presentations of contemporary Native and Indigenous art and portraits from the city’s whaling era.

The museum offers learning opportunities for adults, families, young learners, educators, and visiting groups, as well as lectures, talks, artmaking activities, and other public events. Visitors can explore selected collection works and educational content online or through the free Bloomberg Connects mobile guide, which features audio, video, and images for onsite or offsite use. The museum also welcomes members, donors, and volunteers. Its developing Lyman Allyn Park is planned as a freely accessible, 12-acre urban green space combining sculpture, environmental learning, and community gathering.
