Amazon Conservation’s Monitoring of the Andes Amazon Program (MAAP), launched in 2015, is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to real-time monitoring of deforestation and fires across the Amazon rainforest. Utilizing advanced satellite technology, drones, and analytical algorithms, MAAP provides essential, actionable information to governments, local communities, and Indigenous peoples, enabling them to detect and respond to illegal deforestation as it occurs. Covering all nine Amazon countries, including Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, MAAP empowers stakeholders with daily monitoring capabilities and detailed reports regarding urgent deforestation incidents.

The program not only aids in timely enforcement actions but also promotes awareness through public sharing of urgent cases, fostering community and governmental engagement in conservation efforts.
