Macarraca

Macarraca is a gastronomic space and restaurant in Villanueva de la Serena, Badajoz, inspired by Extremadura’s traditional cuisine and the little-known regional dish that gives the project its name. Its cooking is described as free in style yet committed to local roots, celebrating native, seasonal and overlooked ingredients, regional biodiversity, culinary history and the craft of food artisans. Contemporary techniques meet tradition in two tasting menus: Miajón offers 18 courses over approximately two and a half to three hours, while the shorter Revolá serves 10 courses over around one and a half to two hours.

Both menus can be paired with selections of wine. The restaurant also offers an à la carte option, with individual dishes and plates to share, as well as gift experiences and reservations. Its wine list highlights native grape varieties, limited-production bottles and wines made with minimal intervention.

Opened in July 2023, Macarraca has received regional and national recognition, including a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 and recommendations from the Repsol Guide and TAPAS Magazine
