Macau Foundation has been a pioneering force in promoting academic research and publishing, with nearly a thousand books and journals published to date. Established in 1999, the "Macau Virtual Library" stands as the first online reading platform in Macau, providing free and convenient access to Macau’s literary resources for readers worldwide. In response to the development of a smart city as outlined by the Macau SAR government, the library underwent a significant upgrade in March 2022, reinforcing its commitment to modern digital engagement.
This refreshed platform integrates big data to consolidate publishing results and academic activities, positioning itself as a research center for Macau studies. The website showcases a vast collection of publications related to Macau, featuring a knowledge network that connects scholars and institutions, diverse online exhibitions to promote local works, and collaborative initiatives to enhance resource sharing. Through these efforts, the Macau Virtual Library enriches the scholarly landscape while fostering cultural exchanges and academic discourse
