Macher Festival is a hands-on event celebrating craftsmanship, DIY, creativity and the excitement of making things yourself. Held from August 12 to 15, 2027, at Ferropolis in Gräfenhainichen, between Leipzig and Berlin, it welcomes visitors aged 12 and older, with additional rules for younger attendees. No previous craft experience is needed: participants can learn new skills with guidance from workshop leaders and follow safety instructions.

The festival combines five main areas: an open workshop, practical workshops, a racing arena, activity zones and live stages. In the 10,000-square-metre workshop, visitors can borrow tools and use a wide range of materials to create their own projects. Most workshops, materials and activities are included in the festival ticket, which also covers access to the event and a regular tent pitch; some extras may cost additional fees. More than 300 teams bring homemade vehicles to the racing arena, while activities include go-karting, trampolines and water-based recreation.
