Mackavi Martial Arts is a small martial arts studio in Griswold, Connecticut, focused on personal instruction and practical self-defense training. Its approach draws on the roots of smaller dojos, with an emphasis on giving students individual attention. The studio offers two core programs: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Krav Maga. Taught at separate times, the disciplines also complement one another, helping students develop skills for stand-up situations and encounters that go to the ground.

Mackavi welcomes beginners with no prior experience as well as experienced students, and encourages them to explore both programs. Adults can attend evening classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Little Bulldogs program introduces children ages five to twelve to martial arts through a fun introductory class held Tuesday evenings. Prospective students may arrange a free one-on-one introductory lesson or join a class, and visitors are welcome to watch a session. Training involves contact, and instructors emphasize safety and proper form.
