Macskamentők

Macskamentők Foundation is a Hungarian public-benefit organization dedicated to rescuing cats and reducing the number of strays. Operating since 2010, it works primarily with cats from the Illatos út animal shelter, helping prevent euthanasia caused by lack of space, and accepts other cats when capacity allows. The foundation cares for rescued animals until they can move to safe homes, arranging veterinary treatment, vaccinations and sterilization. It places cats with adopters under an adoption agreement and shares follow-up stories and updates about their lives after adoption.

A central part of its work is promoting responsible pet ownership and preventing unwanted litters. The foundation offers discounted sterilization throughout the year, supported in part by funds raised through personal income tax donations. It also welcomes financial and in-kind contributions, including food and supplies, and invites supporters to direct one percent of their tax to its work. Its efforts have helped provide homes even for older and less socialized cats.
