About MacTrove
MacTrove is a free online archive dedicated to preserving software, documentation, and resources from the classic Macintosh era. The site brings together more than 13,500 software listings and over 8,400 Apple technical documents, making it a broad reference for people exploring vintage Mac systems and their history. Its software collection spans applications, games, fonts, utilities, communication and development tools, HyperCard stacks, desk accessories, and more.
Visitors can browse by category, platform, and recently added items, with files available for free download. The documentation archive includes scanned manuals, hardware guides, developer notes, reference materials, magazine scans, and strategy guides. MacTrove also provides community features, including forums and chat, alongside sections for hardware and magazines.
Recent listings include classic Mac software and updates such as MacSurf, a browser for classic Mac OS 9 and PowerPC systems. MacTrove notes that it does not claim rights to the software it hosts and invites rights holders to contact the site if a title remains available commercially
