MadaCars is a craft business based in Mitchelstown, County Cork, Ireland, offering handmade model vehicles made by tinsmiths in rural Madagascar. The brand works directly with its makers and says it pays a fair price for their work. Each model is created from recycled materials, cut and assembled without a template, then soldered, hand-painted and decorated. This process makes every piece unique while highlighting the makers’ skills and craftsmanship.
The online shop features miniature versions of classic and familiar vehicles, including Madagascar bush taxis, Toyota Land Cruisers, tuk-tuks, Citroën 2CVs, Renault 4 Garda cars, VW buses and an old Irish post van. Models are offered in several sizes, with listed prices generally ranging from €20 to €30. MadaCars presents these pieces as distinctive gifts and decorative items for homes, offices or garages, and offers free shipping on orders over €50. The website also shares information about how the models are made and includes content about Madagascar and the maker’s travels.
