Madame Arthur is a historic cabaret and club in the heart of Pigalle and Montmartre, Paris, celebrated for its distinctive place in the city’s artistic scene. Established in its present cabaret-club form in 1946, the venue draws on a longer heritage that includes the Divan Japonais and the performances of transgender icons Coccinelle and Bambi in the 1950s.
Its cabaret shows bring together performers known as “creatures,” who reinterpret French-language songs in imaginative piano-and-voice performances blending humour, boldness and artistic flair. The programme features changing productions, with shows also presented on tour. From Thursday to Saturday, Madame Arthur becomes a club, extending the evening with resident DJs, live piano-and-voice performances and a popular music quiz. The club celebrates French-language music and stays open until 6 a.m.
A typical night combines cabaret performances and, on selected evenings, a blind test before the club begins. Madame Arthur also offers event-related services, alongside practical visitor information and updates through its website and social channels.
