The Magistrato delle Contrade di Piancastagnaio is the organization representing and coordinating the town’s four historic contrade: Borgo, Castello, Coro and Voltaia. Based in Piancastagnaio, in the province of Siena, it supports the traditions and community events surrounding the Palio delle Contrade, held in honour of the Madonna di San Pietro and traditionally run on 18 August.

The organization shares information about the Palio programme and related activities, including the historic procession, horse race, horse blessing, preparatory dinners, flag ceremonies and performances by flag throwers and drummers. Its website also features event photographs, news and updates, including details about ticket access and the equestrian park where events take place. Visitors can find information about the presentation of the Palio artwork and competitions between the contrade, as well as regulations and an area reserved for authorized users. Through its coverage of ceremonies, performances and celebrations, the Magistrato helps preserve and present Piancastagnaio’s local heritage while keeping residents and visitors informed about the Palio season.
