MAIA is a leading organization dedicated to empowering women through education, innovation, and opportunity. Led by Indigenous women for Indigenous youth, MAIA aims to empower young women by integrating and manifesting their talents academically, within their families, and in their communities. Through the development of leadership skills, empowered voices, resilience, support networks, and critical thinking, MAIA strives to cultivate a generation of female leaders who will make a positive impact on their families, communities, and the world.

One of MAIA's flagship initiatives is the Colegio Impacto, the first secondary school in Central America specifically designed for the education and empowerment of Indigenous adolescent women from rural communities in Guatemala. These remarkable students, known as Jóvenes Pioneras (Pioneer Youth), are often the first in their families to pursue higher education, breaking cycles of poverty and exclusion. MAIA's holistic education approach focuses on quality rather than quantity.

The Colegio Impacto offers rigorous academic studies that are approximately three times more extensive than the average public school, allowing students to experience two years of academic growth in a single year. In addition to academic success, MAIA provides crucial socio-emotional support through a team of mentors who help the Jóvenes Pioneras overcome life challenges, develop their voices, and actively participate in society. MAIA also places great emphasis on empowering families, recognizing that a Jóven Pionera should not have to choose between a prosperous future and her family.

The family support program keeps families informed, inspired, and working towards a shared vision of the future. Communication plays a vital role in MAIA's programs, as Jóvenes Pioneras lead conversations, blogs, and written works to share their innovation and connect with empowered individuals in Guatemala and around the world. With 87% of the MAIA team being Indigenous and 87% being women, cultural relevance and critical empathy are at the heart of every aspect of the program, ensuring its success.
