Sarus Tourism Circuit is a community-led ecotourism initiative in Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh, developed to highlight wetlands where Sarus Cranes are regularly seen. These non-migratory birds are native to the region and are Uttar Pradesh’s state bird, but their numbers are threatened by the degradation of wetland habitats. The circuit aims to encourage conservation-focused tourism while building local awareness of the importance of protecting these wetlands.

Its development and wetland revival have involved local workers employed through MGNREGA and have been led by Gram Panchayats, creating a village-level model for ecotourism. Visitors can explore locations associated with Sarus sightings and experience the district’s natural landscape, while the initiative connects tourism with habitat conservation and community participation. The circuit is presented by the Mainpuri District Administration as part of the district’s tourism offering, alongside local attractions such as Saman Bird Sanctuary, Cyavan Sage Ashram, Lohiya Park and Maharaja Tej Singh Fort.
