Maison du soleil

Maison du Soleil is an accompanied shared-living home for older adults in Mies, in the canton of Vaud, between Nyon and Geneva. It offers an alternative to a traditional nursing home, with thirteen residents living in a village house and a small team available around the clock, including an overnight caregiver on site. Residents have their own room or apartment with a private bathroom and can bring personal furniture and belongings; some accommodation is suitable for couples.

The home welcomes older people who are independent, need help with daily activities, or live with cognitive difficulties. Support and care are tailored to each resident and can increase as needs change, including coordination with a family doctor or partner physician, regular nursing visits, home-care services and palliative care. Daily life includes meals prepared on site using seasonal, local or garden produce, shared activities, laundry and room upkeep. Residents can take part at their own pace, while family and friends are welcome to visit freely.
