Maiwand Taekwondo

Maiwand Taekwondo Academy is a martial arts school based at Bishop Challoner Sports Centre in King’s Heath, Birmingham. It welcomes students of all ages and skill levels, offering training designed to develop fitness, confidence, discipline, respect, and practical Taekwondo ability. The academy’s experienced instructors include international coaches and a master and Poom/Dan examiner, who support students’ progress both on and off the mat.

Training covers several aspects of Taekwondo: Poomsae patterns, Kyorugi sparring, Hoshinsul self-defence, and Kyukpa breaking. The academy also offers specialised Olympic-style sparring training, with practice in speed, agility, precision, defensive movement, footwork, conditioning, and competition strategy. Classes provide opportunities to build skills, work towards belt progression, and take part in competitions and events. The academy highlights benefits for children as well as adults, including improved coordination, focus, perseverance, and social skills. Its supportive environment encourages students to learn together and pursue personal goals. Training is listed on Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
