About MALDEF
MALDEF, or the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, is a renowned civil rights organization that serves as the leading voice for the Latino community. Established in 1968, MALDEF is dedicated to safeguarding and advocating for the rights of Latinos living in the United States, as well as protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans. Led by President and General Counsel Thomas A.
Saenz, MALDEF operates under the guidance of a 30-member national Board of Directors. With its headquarters in Los Angeles, MALDEF also operates regional offices in key locations such as San Antonio, Chicago, and Washington, D. C.
The organization manages the MALDEF Property Management Corporation (MPMC), a 501(c)(3) entity that oversees the National Headquarters and Los Angeles Regional Offices. These facilities provide a professional environment for non-profit organizations that support underserved communities. MALDEF offers numerous resources and programs that promote education, employment, immigrants' rights, voting rights, and access to justice.
