Malena Hirschfeld Art

Malena Hirschfeld Fine Art is the work of Colorado-based artist Malena Hirschfeld, whose paintings celebrate the animals and landscapes of the American West. Based in Lyons, she draws inspiration from the Rocky Mountains, the open plains of northwestern Nebraska, and her lifelong connection with horses. Her subjects include horses, cattle, and wildlife, portrayed with an emphasis on their individuality, intelligence, grace, and natural beauty.

Working primarily in oil, Hirschfeld combines brushwork and palette knife techniques, sometimes incorporating copper leaf. Her paintings use vivid color and varied texture to create a distinctive viewing experience: close up, the surface appears as a lively arrangement of marks; from a distance, the subject comes into focus. Hirschfeld earned a BFA in Painting from Colorado State University, and her work has appeared in juried exhibitions including the Young Guns Coors Western Art Show, the Cowgirl Gathering Art Show, and events at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum.
