Frakes Aviation offers the all-new Turbine Mallard, a modern, new-production amphibious aircraft based on the original Grumman Mallard design. Designed for travel across both land and water, the G-73T combines aerodynamic efficiency with multi-mission versatility. The aircraft is intended for utility operations, commuter airlines, special missions, and corporate or VIP transport, with seating for two crew members and up to 17 passengers.
The Turbine Mallard features Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 engines and Collins avionics. Its spacious interior can be customized for VIP or utility requirements, and its design supports passenger access from shore without the instability or water exposure associated with boarding from floats. The company highlights a typical cruise speed of 190 knots and a maximum operating altitude of 24,500 feet.
Frakes Aviation’s connection to the Mallard dates back to J. Fred Frakes’s turbine conversions, begun in 1970. The current aircraft carries that legacy forward with updated engines, avionics, and design features, offering operators a capable and comfortable amphibious transport platform.
