About Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum is a renowned architectural landmark that showcases a vast collection of art. It is comprised of three remarkable buildings designed by three legendary architects: Eero Saarinen, David Kahler, and Santiago Calatrava. The War Memorial Center, completed in 1957 and designed by Eero Saarinen, was created to house two separated art collections and a veterans memorial.

This modernist building features a captivating floating cross shape with cantilevered wings, making it a spectacular example of modern architecture. The Quadracci Pavilion, a sculptural addition designed by Santiago Calatrava and completed in 2001, is another iconic part of the Milwaukee Art Museum. It boasts a striking cathedral-like space called Windhover Hall, with an awe-inspiring glass ceiling that stands at an impressive 90 feet high.

The Pavilion also features the renowned Burke Brise Soleil, a movable sunscreen with a wingspan of 217 feet, as well as the Reiman Bridge, a pedestrian suspension bridge connecting the Museum to the city. To further enhance the visitor experience, the Museum's grounds were redesigned alongside the Quadracci Pavilion, incorporating a network of gardens, plazas, and fountains created by landscape architect Dan Kiley. These meticulously designed Cudahy Gardens provide a serene forecourt for the Museum, utilizing grids of lawns, hedgerows, and linear fountains to complement the architectural elements.

With its rich architectural heritage and diverse collection, the Milwaukee Art Museum offers a captivating experience for art enthusiasts and architecture aficionados alike
