Mamás del Río is a brand that has been transforming the lives of mothers and babies in the Amazon for the past 8 years. Through education and the use of technology, Mamás del Río empowers the community, providing access to healthcare services and promoting well-being and disease prevention. Their project aims to change the stories of pregnant women and babies in rural communities by teaching simple care practices, preventing diseases, and encouraging the use of healthcare services to reduce risks during pregnancy and childbirth.

Using a tablet with a user-friendly application, Mamás del Río empowers Community Agents, leaders within the communities, to gather valuable information that improves and saves the lives of mothers and babies. Mamás del Río is dedicated to reducing social inequalities, bridging gaps, and changing the lives of mothers and babies through the power of technology and access to information. They work in 84 communities in the Loreto region and 30 communities along the Peru-Colombia border.

With their approach, Mamás del Río has achieved significant impacts, including a 550% increase in skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby, a 117% increase in colostrum consumption, a 32% improvement in umbilical cord care, and a 10% increase in institutional births. With over 1500 pregnant women already benefited, more than 500 trained Community Agents, midwives, and healthcare personnel, and over 6000 home visits conducted, Mamás del Río is dedicated to empowering and giving a voice to the community by connecting them to state healthcare services
