About Malabo Montpellier Panel
The Malabo Montpellier Panel is a renowned group of international agriculture and food security experts. They play a crucial role in guiding policy decisions to accelerate progress towards food security and improved nutrition in Africa. This esteemed panel provides high-quality research that equips decision-makers with the necessary knowledge to effectively implement policies and programs that benefit smallholder farmers.
The Panel was formed by world-renowned scientists and emphasizes evidence-based analysis, mutual learning, and information exchange at the highest level of policy. Their research reports are easily accessible and readable for senior policymakers and key stakeholders. Their annual Malabo Montpellier Forum brings together decision-makers to assess strategies for meeting global agriculture and food security goals.
This allows for meaningful dialogue between the Panel, key stakeholders, NGOs, and the private sector, promoting the exchange of research across borders. The Malabo Declaration, adopted by 54 African governments, commits signatory countries to inclusive agricultural growth that creates job opportunities for young people and women, with the goal of halving the number of people in poverty by 2025. The Malabo Montpellier Panel, jointly facilitated by AKADEMIYA2063 and the University of Bonn, is a vital actor in supporting agricultural transformation and economic development in Africa
