**MaMuMask - The International Festival of Masks**
MaMuMask is an ambitious cultural project showcasing the rich traditions and vibrant identity of Mamoiada, located in the heart of Sardinia. Established to celebrate the unique heritage of the region, the festival brings together locals and visitors for an immersive experience in traditional Sardinian art, music, and culinary delights. This second edition, held from June 28 to 30, 2019, features a diverse program that includes spectacular parades, theater performances, and panel discussions on the intriguing relationship between humans and masks.
At the core of MaMuMask are the iconic Mamuthones and Issohadores, traditional figures clad in masks who symbolize the communal spirit and ancestral rites of Mamoiada. The festival not only highlights these remarkable costumes but also promotes local craftsmanship, gastronomy, and hospitality, making it a significant event for fostering cultural exchange and community pride. Supported by various cultural institutions and local associations, MaMuMask aims to strengthen synergies within the territory and preserve Sardinia's rich ethnographic heritage.
