Manchester Healthy Schools is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Manchester through a comprehensive, whole-school approach. Over the past 20 years, they have effectively partnered with local schools to tackle health inequalities. Their initiatives encompass seven thematic areas: Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE); Relationships and Sex Education (RSE); Drugs and Alcohol Education; Unintentional Injury Prevention; Social and Emotional Health; Mental Health and Wellbeing; and Healthy Lifestyles.
Each of these thematic areas is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for navigating life. For instance, PSHE addresses safety and personal development, while RSE empowers students to make informed choices about relationships and health. Their focus on mental health recognizes the increasing prevalence of mental health issues among youth, advocating for proactive support in schools. By providing training, resources, and support, Manchester Healthy Schools fosters a healthier future for the community, helping children thrive academically and personally.
