Many Horses

Many Horses Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in Arizona in 1997, with subsequent branches in Colorado and Georgia. The organization shares teachings from Elders that encourage respectful, balanced relationships with the Earth and all living beings. Its work includes preserving wild horses, caring for rescue horses, and creating educational and ceremonial opportunities for people of all ages. Programs and activities have included sweat lodge ceremonies, Animal Spirit Dances, drum ceremonies, experiential teachings, youth rites of passage, and leadership education.

Today, the foundation is concentrating its efforts at Thunderbird Ranch, an off-grid, solar-powered community in Mancos, Colorado. The ranch offers a place for people seeking a lifestyle grounded in connection with the natural world, along with regular ceremonial events and weekly drumming and teaching gatherings. Its activities also include rescuing, boarding, and training horses, growing organic food using permaculture principles, and raising dairy goats and chickens. Through these offerings, Many Horses Foundation seeks to support learning, community, and a more harmonious relationship with the natural world.
