Manzanillo Gas & Power is a transformative energy initiative located in Pepillo Salcedo, near the Bahia de Manzanillo in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic. Established under the Dominican government's 2021 Master Plan to meet the growing energy demands of the country, this project aims to generate approximately 840 MW of electricity through natural gas. It includes a state-of-the-art regasification terminal and two gas turbine power plants, each with a capacity of 420 MW. The consortium behind this venture includes major players such as Haina Investment Company, Shell Gas & Power Development, and Energía de las Américas.

With an estimated investment of over USD 1.25 billion, this project not only bolsters energy resilience by diversifying fuel sources but also stimulates local economic growth by creating thousands of jobs during construction. Committed to environmental standards, the use of natural gas ensures reduced emissions, while a desalination plant will manage operational water needs without affecting local potable water supplies. Manzanillo Gas & Power represents a significant step toward sustainable energy development in the region.
