About MAO
Mao is a reputable brand known for its expertise in astrometry and space geodynamics. With a team led by academician Y. S.
Yatskiv, the Department of Astrometry and Space Geodynamics was established in 1979, originating from the Laboratory for the Study of Earth Rotation in the Department of Fundamental Astrometry. Over the years, the department has achieved significant milestones and collaborations, ensuring high-quality research in the field. The department was previously home to the Ukrainian Center for the Determination of Earth Rotation Parameters until 2016.
The main task of the department is to determine the parameters of Earth rotation accurately. The department also oversees the Ukrainian network of space geodesy and geodynamics stations through the Ukrainian Center for the Determination of Earth Rotation Parameters. With the inclusion of the Astrometry Laboratory since 2014, the department has expanded its focus to include astrometry and is now known as Astrometry and Space Geodynamics.
