Māori Pasifika Trades

Māori & Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) Auckland is a programme helping Māori and Pasifika build careers and become leaders in the trades. It supports trainees with trade scholarships that cover course fees, one-on-one mentoring, and help finding work in their chosen field. Māori and Pasifika aged 16 to 40 may be eligible to apply. Training pathways span automotive, construction, electrical, hairdressing and barbering, health and wellbeing, hospitality and culinary, mechanical engineering, plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying, and refrigeration and air conditioning.

MPTT also connects trainees and employers through job opportunities and Auckland Jobs and Skills Hubs, which match local residents with employers working on major construction and infrastructure projects. Its work-readiness support helps people take early steps towards employment, apprenticeships, or a career change. The programme shares news, trainee stories, events, and practical resources for people pursuing trades careers. It also highlights opportunities for women in the trades and provides information for employers seeking workers.
