MAPDA, or Mothers for Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse, is a national nonprofit dedicated to preventing substance use and overdose through awareness, education, and community support. Founded by three mothers who transformed personal tragedy into a commitment to help other families, the organization began by raising awareness about prescription drug abuse. Its work has since expanded to address evolving threats, including illicit fentanyl and youth vaping.
MAPDA’s prevention-first approach is built around three pillars. Through awareness, it helps families and communities understand substance use, emerging drug threats, and related risks. Its educational resources provide evidence-informed information to support informed decisions, reduce risk, and address substance use before it becomes a crisis. Through community action, MAPDA works with partners to identify gaps, strengthen prevention efforts, and bring useful information and resources to those who need them.
The organization invites individuals to join its community and support its mission through donations. Contributions help MAPDA provide prevention education and resources to families.
