The MARAA Foundation, or Mentors and Resources for Amputees of Alberta, supports people across Alberta as they adjust to life with limb loss. Its mission is to provide consistent resources, guidance and personal support, helping amputees remain active and work toward a productive life. The foundation connects people with experienced amputee mentors who can offer one-on-one encouragement and practical guidance through the stages of amputation, healing, therapy and prosthetics.
MARAA also gathers links to relevant resources and shares real-life stories to help people understand what to expect and feel less alone. Its free book, βOne Step at a Time: An Amputeeβs Journey,β is written by founder Doug Campbell, a bilateral amputee and certified mentor. The book addresses common questions, outlines the next steps and points readers to further support.
The organization says it networks with the War Amps of Canada to promote resources and awareness throughout Alberta. Visitors can contact MARAA by email or phone to connect with support, explore its resources, learn about sponsorship, or find ways to volunteer and contribute.
