MaRaVal

MaRaVal Maladies Rares Valais is a nonprofit cantonal patient association founded in August 2017 and based in Sion, Switzerland. Guided by the motto “Come together and act so we no longer have to endure,” it works to improve understanding and recognition of rare diseases, strengthen the skills of those involved, and support the autonomy and wellbeing of patients and their families. Its services include individual support, care coordination, training, awareness-raising and specialist expertise.

MaRaVal offers consultations in French- and German-speaking Valais, helping patients, relatives and professionals navigate the challenges associated with rare conditions. The association also develops projects to improve inclusion, including support for children’s schooling, and provides professional learning through a continuing-education certificate and a shorter course on rare and genetic diseases. Community activities and meetings offer opportunities to share experiences and connect.

MaRaVal raises funds through donations and the sale of branded products, including MaRaVal wines produced with Celliers de Sion and MaRaCorne, a washable, heatable dry hot-water bottle. Proceeds help sustain its support, coordination and training services
