Litteraturfestivalen på Mårbacka is an annual literature festival held at Mårbacka, the childhood home of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, in the scenic Värmland region of Sweden. Set in the loft of Mårbacka’s large hay barn, the festival brings together writers, musicians and actors for a celebration of literature and storytelling. Its programme features Swedish and international voices, with guests in past years representing countries and communities including Norway, Austria, Ukraine, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Sápmi.
Participants have included authors, biographers, poets and performers such as Anna-Karin Palm, Anna Nordlund, Agneta Pleijel, Vigdis Hjorth and Sofia Karlsson. The festival began in 2020, when pandemic restrictions limited the first gathering to 50 people in one room. It continues as a yearly event around the turn of July and August; the 2027 festival is scheduled for July 30–31.
Visitors can buy tickets, including early-bird tickets through Tickster, and support the festival through donations. The organisation also shares information about its programme, guests and venue online
