The Dr. Marcelino A. Dechavez Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of Dr. Dechavez, a dedicated educator who served from 1962 until 2006 at what is now the Central Philippines State University (CPSU) in Negros Occidental. This scholarship fund provides financial support to students pursuing higher education in Agricultural Education, Forestry, and Animal Science at CPSU’s Main Campus in Kabankalan, promoting academic excellence and environmental conservation.
Dr. Dechavez, who earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Agricultural Education and a Doctorate in Educational Administration, was a pioneer in transforming educational institutions in the Philippines. The CPSU, initially known as the Negros Occidental Agricultural School, has a rich history dating back to 1946 and has grown into a vital agricultural institution under his leadership.
Driven by a commitment to sustainable living and educational access, the Dr. Marcelino A. Dechavez Scholarship Fund not only honors his contributions but also inspires new generations of scholars to achieve their dreams in agriculture and related fields.
