MAREA is a dynamic brand that is dedicated to collaborating with the Malaysian Government and other stakeholders to improve collection and recycling rates. With a mission to create a greener and cleaner Malaysia, MAREA strives for a more sustainable and waste-reduced future. Their vision is to bring positive change by building awareness around the circular economy approach for efficient packaging waste management.

As a not-for-profit, professionally-run entity, MAREA acts as the interface between key stakeholders, including the Malaysian Government, with 10 industry leaders at the helm. Nestlé Malaysia Berhad will kick off the alliance in 2021, with Mr. Juan Aranols, the CEO of Nestlé Malaysia, serving as the MAREA Chairman.

MAREA focuses on various materials, such as Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Used Beverage Carton (UBC), and Local Flexibles. By incentivizing collection and providing technical assistance to recyclers, MAREA aims to optimize recycling rates and encourage the growth of recycling companies. MAREA also welcomes new members, including non-governmental organizations, waste management and recycling companies, and interested industry stakeholders, to join their cause
