The Massachusetts Region 2 Health and Medical Coordinating Coalition (HMCC) brings together healthcare organizations and local public health departments to strengthen emergency preparedness across its region. Developed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management, the coalition is sponsored by the City of Worcester and operates through the Division of Public Health’s Office of Health and Medical Preparedness. Its members include 74 local public health departments, nine acute care hospitals, and other organizations such as community health centers, long-term care providers, and emergency medical services.

The HMCC works to align members’ emergency planning, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts with a broader regional plan. It supports participating organizations with regional workshops, conferences, and training; access to emergency plans, policies, and tutorials; assistance reviewing plans and exercises; and emergency preparedness presentations. The coalition also advances multidisciplinary preparedness initiatives and coordinates work connected to public health and healthcare preparedness grants.
