Maresa Matzek

Maresa Matzek is an independent funeral celebrant and singer serving Munich and the surrounding area, generally within a 40-kilometre radius. With more than 800 farewells accompanied over nearly six years, she provides personal support to families planning a memorial service. Her approach focuses on celebrating a person’s life through an individual “life speech,” shaped by conversations and memories rather than standard templates or questionnaires. Matzek visits families at home, listens at their own pace, and creates a portrait that reflects the person’s character, relationships, and story.

Her services include bespoke funeral ceremonies, graveside speeches, and words for urn burials; short-notice enquiries may also be possible. As a trained singer and guitarist, she can provide live music and arrange acoustic versions of requested songs, bringing speech and music together. She supports families from the first call through the ceremony and provides the completed speech afterward as a keepsake. Her service area includes Munich, Starnberg and the Five Lakes region, and nearby communities.
