About Marga Institute
Marga Institute | Colombo is an esteemed and independent non-profit Centre for Development Studies, established in 1972 under the Companies Act of Sri Lanka. With a focus on research and studies relevant to development, Marga Institute offers a wide range of programs and services. The institute critically examines past and ongoing development processes in Sri Lanka, contributing to an informed society.
Through its sustained multidisciplinary research, Marga facilitates ongoing public dialogues on development issues. It shares its research knowledge with stakeholders, promoting sustainable development goals and lifestyle at both the local and national levels. Additionally, Marga Institute disseminates its output through education and training, publications, and Civil Society Forum discussions.
Some of Marga Institute's current projects include building social cohesion through Development Dialogues, monitoring the impact of the economic crisis on SMEs, and designing and conducting focus group discussions for the New Youth Policy.
