Mari Y Foglia

Mari Y Foglia – Gioie e Argenti is a Florentine artisan workshop where Japanese goldsmith Mari Yoshida Foglia and Giuliano Foglia combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity. Based in Borgo Ognissanti, Florence, the studio draws on the city’s Renaissance heritage, especially the techniques of sbalzo and cesello: metal embossing and chasing. Giuliano continues a family tradition spanning three generations, while Mari brings her own artistic perspective and close attention to nature. In 2023, Mari was named Maestro Artigiano by the Florence Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her contribution to preserving local craftsmanship.

The workshop creates silver jewellery and other handcrafted pieces, including rings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces, earrings, brooches, and items for men. Its catalogue also features wedding jewellery, furnishings, and sacred objects. Mari and Giuliano make custom, personalised works, bringing clients’ ideas to life, and offer restoration for cherished heirlooms. Their approach centres on making enduring pieces by hand, balancing established Florentine techniques with individual designs and artistic exploration.
