The Marine Stores Guide (MSG) is a critical resource in the maritime purchasing and supply sector, established in 1978 and widely recognized as the industry standard. With over 110,000 printed copies in circulation globally, the MSG is indispensable for ship owners and managers, boasting more than 50,000 unique product codes for marine items ranging from tableware to welding equipment. This system, using a consistent six-digit coding format, simplifies the matching and supply of goods, enhancing purchasing efficiency.

In response to the industry's shift towards e-commerce, the MSG has evolved to include an electronic version that offers regular updates, ensuring users have access to current product information while facilitating seamless integration into sales systems. Additionally, users require an IMPA Marine Stores Guide Data Licence to access the electronic features, which provide invaluable details and comparison tables for effective decision-making. Overall, the MSG remains an essential tool for maritime professionals, promoting accuracy in supply management and operational efficiency in the commercial shipping sector.
