Marionet is a renowned theater company based in Coimbra, Portugal, specializing in the intersection of performing arts and science. Founded in 2000, Marionet creates original artistic productions inspired by scientific themes. They also conduct research at the intersection of performing arts and science, collaborate with scientists on artistic projects, and participate in advanced training programs in scientific research centers.

Marionet gained recognition as a resident company at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra in 2010. This collaboration led to the promotion of science and advanced training programs in experimental biology and biomedical communication. In 2012, Marionet established the Center for Documentation in Performing Arts and Science, which serves as a repository of theatrical works and essays exploring the intersection between these two fields of knowledge.

As a recipient of annual funding from the Municipality of Coimbra, Marionet has also formed collaborations with various arts and science organizations. Currently, the company receives funding from the Directorate-General for the Arts under the Program for Sustainable Support of Professional Artistic Activity.
