Marionette is a motion-capture software brand focused on making character animation faster and more accessible. Its desktop tool captures movement from video using a laptop and mobile phone, without requiring a motion-capture suit. From a single video, Marionette can track body, face and hand movement, including performances with multiple people. Processing runs locally on the user’s computer, supporting real-time previews and keeping captured content on the device.

The software combines AI-powered motion cleanup with manual editing tools, giving animators control over refining performances in a post-to-pose workflow. Users can export animation in FBX, GLB and BVH formats, including FBX in the Mixamo standard, or connect Marionette to existing production pipelines. Plugins support workflows in Unreal Engine, Maya, Blender and Unity, with tutorials also covering applications such as iClone, Cinema 4D, Houdini and Roblox. Marionette provides educational resources on capture, cleanup, retargeting and plugin setup, helping users move from recorded performance to animation in their preferred 3D tools.
