The Marion County Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Marion County, Ohio. Founded in 1969, the Society has been based at Heritage Hall since 1989. The historic Old Post Office, listed on the National Register, serves as its headquarters and museum, offering exhibits and interactive displays about the people, industries, and community that shaped the region.
Heritage Hall is also home to the Wyandot Popcorn Museum, the world’s only popcorn museum. Its collection includes restored popcorn wagons and peanut roasters, along with other artifacts celebrating this distinctive part of American history. The Society provides hands-on educational programs for visitors of all ages, including workshops, guided tours, special presentations, and an activity book for young learners. It also hosts events and welcomes group tours by appointment.
Visitors can shop at the General Store, attend programs, or support the Society through membership and donations. Members receive newsletters, access to educational programs and exhibits, and opportunities to take part in special events.
