The Submarine Industrial Base Program Office leads the U.S. Navy's effort to rebuild and strengthen the national industrial base that designs, builds, and sustains America's submarine fleet. America's submarines underpin the nation's nuclear deterrent and remain one of its most decisive military advantages. The Navy must deliver one Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine and two Virginia-class attack submarines each year while sustaining the existing fleet. That requires a submarine industrial base operating at five times the build rate it sustained in 2015. Closing that gap. The SIB Program Office is helping close that gap by increasing capacity, capability, and workforce across the submarine industrial base. We invest across three lines of effort: supply chain, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development. These three efforts are designed to reinforce each other. Suppliers need skilled workers to fill their shops. Advanced manufacturing reduces the bottlenecks those suppliers face. A stronger workforce builds every part that goes into the next submarine. That work is producing measurable results. Torpedo on-time delivery improved from 48 percent to 93 percent, more than 1,200 skilled workers graduated through accelerated training programs, and the first Naval Sea Systems Command-approved additively manufactured parts entered the Navy's standard supply system. The work is not finished. But the foundation is solid. Follow this page for updates on workforce initiatives, advanced manufacturing breakthroughs, supply chain investments, and the people building and the partnerships that are strengthening America's submarine fleet. #SubmarineIndustrialBase #SIBProgram #WeBuildGiants #AdvancedManufacturing #StrengtheningAmericasNavy
