About S.V. Medaris
Market Weight Press is the printmaking studio of Wisconsin artist S.V. Medaris, whose work explores farm life and the relationships between people and domestic animals. Based in the Driftless area of Wisconsin, Medaris has raised dogs, cats, chickens, peafowl, turkeys, and pigs on her farm since 1998. These experiences inform artwork that combines education about animal species and breeds with the drama and humor of keeping livestock as pets or raising them for meat.
Medaris has exhibited professionally since 2004 and has presented more than a dozen solo shows. After earning an MFA in printmaking from UW–Madison in 2011, she developed block prints as a storytelling medium alongside her oil paintings. Her work includes woodblock and reduction linocut prints, hand-colored prints, and oil paintings on panel. Market Weight Press shares her recent and selected work, news from the farm and studio, and details about exhibitions. Available pieces are also shown through Abel Contemporary in Stoughton, Wisconsin.
