Associazione Nazionale Vittime delle Marocchinate

The Associazione Nazionale Vittime delle “marocchinate” is an Italian nonprofit volunteer organization founded in 2007 by Emiliano Ciotti. Independent of government and political parties, it welcomes people who share its principles and aims. The association is volunteer-run and self-funded, and says it has never received state contributions. Its central purpose is to bring public attention to the suffering of Italian civilians and prisoners during the Second World War, which it attributes to violence by colonial French troops serving with the Allies, and to promote what it considers a fuller historical account of these events.

The organization supports historical research, documentation, and public education through its archive, historical crime mapping, press collection, publications, books, videos, and library resources. Its website also provides information on the association’s structure, membership, legal commission, and historical materials. Educational and commemorative initiatives include school and university projects, a national conference, a day of remembrance, and literary and photography awards. Visitors can also find news, events, legislative motions, and contact details.
