Marte Oppedal Vale is a deaf researcher and writer whose work explores disability, inclusion, and the power to define one’s own experience. A PhD candidate at the University of Oslo, she researches the inclusion and participation of disabled people in working life, drawing on both academic expertise and lived experience as a deaf, cochlear-implant user. Her writing challenges assumptions that disabled people are the problem and examines how workplace systems and inclusion policies can enable participation while also creating barriers.
Through articles, opinion pieces, research, and a newsletter, Vale offers language and strategies for disabled people who want to take up space on their own terms, speak about discrimination and equality, and own their stories. Her published work includes research on how disability inclusion is understood in Norway’s Inclusive Working Life Agreement, alongside commentary on workplace accommodation, solidarity, and representation. Her website introduces her background and research, shares selected writing and reader responses, and invites visitors to subscribe to her newsletter or get in touch.
