Marymass Festival is a community celebration held each August in Irvine, Ayrshire, bringing together traditional horse culture and contemporary entertainment across 12 days. Its programme includes parades, horse racing, live music, fireworks, a funfair, a dog show, family activities and community events. The festival’s main celebration features a large parade with horses, carts, pipe bands, floats and local groups, followed by the crowning of the Marymass Queen.
On Irvine Moor, visitors can enjoy races, a live jousting stunt show, the Greasy Pole competition, a medieval village, food and market stalls, demonstrations and a free children’s zone. Other highlights include the Festival of Light Parade, the Marymass Derby, the annual Flower Show and events around Irvine’s historic town centre. Marymass also provides practical visitor services, including free event parking and a shuttle bus on the main Saturday, with dedicated accessible parking spaces.
