The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) is a federal/state partnership that aims to promote the responsible use of ocean and coastal resources in Alabama and Mississippi. As one of the 34 Sea Grant programs under the National Sea Grant College Program, MASGC collaborates with academic institutions such as Auburn University, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, and Mississippi State University.

MASGC offers a range of integrated programs to coastal communities, including research, education, and engagement initiatives. These programs are designed to provide communities with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding the environment. Through interdisciplinary environmental scholarship and community-based natural-resource management, MASGC strives to ensure the sustainable use of coastal resources.

Their tools for achieving this mission include applied interdisciplinary research, outreach, education, and legal services, which are utilized at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels. With vast bi-state resources spanning inland water and estuarine shoreline, MASGC serves more than 7 million residents in the area.

To guide their operations, MASGC follows a strategic plan and receives guidance from a board of directors and an advisory council. To learn more about their work and stay updated, you can subscribe to their e-newsletter or explore their website.
