Mastiha Roots is a sustainability-focused project dedicated to protecting the Chios mastiha tree and preserving the traditions surrounding its cultivation on the Greek island of Chios. Founded by Lenia Ziglaki, who devoted herself to the project in 2020, the initiative connects the tree’s cultural heritage and natural significance with practical support for local communities.

Its central offering is the opportunity to adopt a Chios mastiha tree, with contributions helping sustain traditional farming, care for the land, and support the farmers and craftspeople who maintain this way of life. Visitors can also make donations; the project describes how pooled contributions fund the adoption of additional trees. Adoption gifts may include a certificate, a wooden keepsake box, mastiha pearls, chewing gum, and a tree branch. Mastiha Roots also invites companies to join an alliance centered on sustainability, stewardship, and collaboration, and offers corporate gifts. Through information about the cultivation cycle, growing regions, and final product, the project shares the story of mastiha and promotes its traditional uses and natural wellness appeal.
