Masuda Gallery

Masuda Gallery is a Sydney gallery founded in 2010 by Masako Masuda, whose Japanese heritage and decades of experience inform its distinctive collection. It specialises in traditional and contemporary Japanese textiles, ceramics, prints and decorative arts, bringing together historic antiques and collectables with works by contemporary Japanese artists and craftspeople. The collection includes objects, wearable pieces and lighting, and highlights Japanese craftsmanship, traditional techniques and distinctive design principles across different eras.

Masako’s interest in collecting was shaped by her grandfather, who established Kyoto trading company Chobishi in the early 1910s and introduced Japanese silks, kimonos and handcrafted wares to international audiences. Her experience includes working at Kyoto gallery Konjyaku and Sydney’s Freeland Gallery, developing knowledge of Japanese antiques, vintage textiles and ceramics. Masuda Gallery was created as a place for people to meet and discuss art, design and culture. It is now located at Space 145, 145 St Johns Road, Glebe, Sydney, and welcomes visitors Thursday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, or by appointment.
